sanghwang 상황 [ look like + situation] NOUN = situation

상황이 나아지고 있어요. Sanghwangi naajigo isseoyo. The situation has been improving.

sangja 상자 [ box + thing] NOUN = box (SYN. 박스)

sasilssang 사실상 /사실쌍/ [ work + truth + over] ADVERB = actually, in fact

그 계획은 사실상 실패했다. Geu gyehoegeun sasilssang silpaehaettta. In principle, the plan failed.

*sasip 사십 [ four + ten four times ten] NUMERAL = forty

벌써 내 나이 사십이다. Beolsseo nae nai sasibida. I’m already forty.

sasohada 사소하다 [ little + little + 하다 adjectival suffix] ADJECTIVE = trivial, minor (ANT. 중대하다)

어젯밤에 엄마와 사소한 일로 싸웠어요. Eojeppame eommawa sasoha nillo ssawosseoyo. I argued with my mom over trifles.

saturi 사투리 NOUN = dialect (ANT. 표준어)

NOTE: Korea celebrates both New Year’s day and Chinese New Year’s day. It is a traditional ritual for Koreans to thank their ancestors with prepared food on the morning of the New Year’s day. It is a custom to eat 떡국 on this day.

seolleongtang 설렁탕 [설렁 + boil] NOUN = seolleongtang (stock soup of bone and stew meat)

설렁탕에는 보통 반찬으로 깍두기가 나와요. Seolleongtangeneun botong banchaneuro kkakttugiga nawayo. Kkakdugi is commonly served as a side dish with Seolleongtang .
