罗汉？应该是从梵语里来的吧，佛教里很多词都是从梵语里来的。

luóhàn? yīnggāi shì cóng fànyǔ lǐ lái de ba, Fójiào lǐ hěn duō cí dōu shì cóng fànyǔ lǐ lái de.
|
|
|
An arhat? It's probably from Sanskrit, right? A lot of words in Buddhism are from Sanskrit.

你还知道点皮毛嘛。呵呵！罗汉是对释迦牟尼佛弟子里那些修行到了最高境界的弟子的称呼。

nǐ hái zhīdào diǎnr pímáo ma. hēhē! luóhàn shì duì Shìjiāmóuní fó dìzǐ lǐ nàxiē xiūxíng dào le zuì gāo jìngjiè de dìzǐ de chēnghu.

So you do know a thing or two. Hehe. An arhat is what you call one of Siddhartha Buddha's disciples who has attained the highest levels of spiritual perfection.

有很多，我们说的十八罗汉只是其中最有名的十八个。待会儿我们要去的罗汉堂里有五百个罗汉呢。

yǒu hěn duō, wǒmen shuō de shí bā luóhàn zhǐshì qízhōng zuì yǒumíng de shí bā gè. dāihuǐr wǒmen yào qù de Luóhàn táng lǐ yǒu wǔbǎi gè luóhàn ne.
|

|
There are many. The arhats we're talking about are only the most famous 18 of them. In a bit we're going to go to a Hall of Arhats that has five hundred arhats.

还有，如果你不听话，就把你打入十八层地狱。哈哈，习惯成自然，这样不是很好记嘛。其实佛教刚从印度传到中国的时候，只有十六罗汉，后来被我们加了两个上去，就变成十八罗汉了。

háiyǒu, rúguǒ nǐ bù tīnghuà, jiù bǎ nǐ dǎrù shí bā céng dìyù. hāhā, xíguàn chéng zìrán, zhèyàng bùshì hěn hǎojì ma. qíshí fójiào gāng cóng Yìndù chuándào Zhōngguó de shíhou, zhǐyǒu shí liù luóhàn, hòulái bèi wǒmen jiā le liǎng gè shàngqu, jiù biàn chéng shí bā luóhàn le.

Also, if you aren't obedient, then you'll be cast into the 18th layer of hell. Haha, it becomes natural after a while and this way it's easy to remember, right? In fact, when Buddhism had just come to China from India, there were only 16 arhats. Later on we added two more and it became 18 arhats.

suǒyǐ tā jiù jiào chángméiluóhàn. nǐ kàn zhè ge názhe bùdài de, tā shì bùdàiluóhàn.

|
|
So he's called the Long Eyebrowed Arhat. Look at the one carrying a cloth bag; he's the Cloth Bag Arhat.
