Go to Bali! It's low-cost, the scenic areas are all centrally located and it's 'visa upon arrival'. There's an arts center there with lots of art galleries and art stores. You can also check out the local people's traditional dancing. There's volcanic black-sand beaches as well. Basically, you can enjoy the scenery of an island completely unaffected by modernization and pollution.
